ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 19. The turnover of finished products by Kazakh manufacturers amounted to $39.4 billion in the first half of 2023, which is 22 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.
Data from the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan shows that a third of this turnover was made up of exports of non-commodity goods from Kazakhstan, amounting to $12.1 billion.
The products mainly exported are from metallurgy and the chemical industry: copper and copper cathodes, ferroalloys, uranium, petroleum products, unprocessed zinc and aluminum, hot-rolled flat products, and natural gas. Foreign consumers are also actively buying wheat flour, sunflower oil, and mineral fertilizers produced in Kazakhstan. In particular, 155,900 tons of sunflower oil alone were exported. This is 33.4 percent more than the same period last year. In general, the trend towards increasing supplies of sunflower oil to foreign markets has been observed since last year.
At the end of 2022, the export of sunflower oil from Kazakhstan increased three times compared to 2021 and amounted to $346.4 million in monetary terms. In addition, last year, domestic producers significantly increased the volume of margarine supplies—2.7 times—to $88.8 million.
The largest volumes of exports are sent to Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Japan. Over the six months of this year, the geography of countries importing Kazakhstani finished products has expanded significantly, from 114 to 125.
