ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 16. Kazakhstan has devised projects to simplify cross-border trade procedures and increase transit traffic as part of the development of transport corridors in the region, Yeldos Saudabayev, Director of the Customs Control Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
"In order to simplify cross-border trade procedures and increase transit traffic, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan developed draft concepts and a Multilateral Agreement on Facilitating Transit Procedures within the framework of the development of transport corridors in the countries of Central Asia, the Caspian region, and the South Caucasus. The main goal of these projects is to introduce a paperless transit ecosystem in the countries of the region," he said.
According to him, this pilot project will eliminate the need for stamps from numerous authorized bodies.
In addition to this, in 2023, the Agreement on the use of navigation seals in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to track transportation across the territories of two or more EAEU member states also came into force. On the Eurasian Economic Commission platform, work is underway to prepare draft decisions necessary for implementation. The implementation of the project in 2025 will reduce checks along the route.
"On the Single Window portal, participants in foreign economic activity are given access to receive permits issued by related government agencies and organizations through a single point in electronic form. In 2023, more than 240,000 applications for permits were submitted to the Single Window portal," he said.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.
Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.
Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transportation in Kazakhstan.
