ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 7. In August 2025, 9,430 international money transfers were sent from Kazakhstan totaling 7.635 billion tenge ($13.9 million) via the Western Union system.
Data obtained by Trend from the National Bank of Kazakhstan shows that the number of transactions rose by 4.7 percent compared to July 2025 (9,010), while the total value increased by 16.8 percent from 6.535 billion tenge ($11.9 million).
In August, Western Union represented a substantial 6.6 percent
of the total international remittance transactions by count, while
capturing a noteworthy 10.5 percent share in terms of monetary
value.
In the interim, aggregating all cross-border remittance frameworks,
Kazakhstan executed a cumulative total of 142,100 transactions to
foreign jurisdictions, amounting to a substantial 72.7 billion
tenge (equivalent to $132.9 million) during the month of August
2025. In juxtaposition to July, the metric of outgoing transfers
experienced an uptick of 1.8 percent, while the aggregate volume
exhibited an increase of 3.2 percent.
By country, Uzbekistan received the largest share of outgoing funds at 27.9 billion tenge ($51 million), accounting for 38.4 percent of the total. Russia followed with 18.4 billion tenge ($33.6 million, 25.4 percent), Türkiye—11.2 billion tenge ($20.4 million, 15.5 percent), Georgia—4.6 billion tenge ($8.4 million, 6.4 percent), and Kyrgyzstan—2.5 billion tenge ($4.5 million, 3.5 percent).
