BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 25. Kyrgyzstan imported 8,065 passenger cars from South Korea from January through March 2024, which is 5 percent more compared to the corresponding period of 2023 (7,678 cars), Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows the value of the imports amounted to $66.545 million, rising by 4.3 percent over the first quarter of 2023’s figures ($63.799 million).
South Korea was the second-biggest supplier of passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter of 2024. In first place was China, with 32,125 cars for $552.814 million, and in third place was the US, with 2,505 cars for $54.972 million.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 50,403 passenger cars from January through March 2024, which is 2.5 times more than in the same months of 2023 (19,835 cars). The value of the imports reached $911.054 million, increasing by 2.7 times compared to January-March 2023 ($325.735 million).
To note, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $3.723 billion from January through March 2024, which is 29.8 percent more than in the corresponding months of 2023.
Exports amounted to $510.9 million, increasing by 12.8 percent compared to January through March 2023. Imports, compared to the same period in 2023, grew by 33 percent, reaching $3.213 billion.
