BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 4. Kyrgyzstan imported 13,843 passenger cars from South Korea from January through May 2024, which is 16.6 percent less than the 16,592 cars imported in the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the value of these imports amounted to $104.148 million, a decline of 26 percent compared to $140.704 million in January-May 2023.
South Korea was the second-largest supplier of passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan during this period. China was the leading exporter, with 35,816 cars imported for a total of $600.158 million. The US was the third-largest exporter, with 3,303 cars worth $63.775 million.
In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 63,900 passenger cars from January through May 2024, worth over $1.049 billion.
The volume of imports rose by 54.5 percent compared to 41,363 cars in the same period in 2023. The value of these imports increased by 56 percent from $673.604 million in January-May 2023.
