BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 15. The Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyzstan has produced 7.960 tons of gold from January through September 2024, exceeding the established target by 81 kilograms, Trend reports.
Kumtor Gold Company reported that its revenue for this period reached $579.8 million, surpassing the planned $463.4 million. The net profit amounted to $216.6 million, exceeding the target of $87.9 million.
Additionally, the company has begun development on the Togolok gold deposit and geological exploration at the Djangat area, located 200 kilometers from the Kumtor mine.
During the reported period, the company paid 10.37 billion soms ($121.2 million) in taxes and other contributions.
The company also announced the launch of a project to mine gold-bearing ore using underground methods at the Kumtor mine. In the near future, the company will start extracting gold from the processed ore stored in the mine's tailings facilities.
Kumtor Gold Company operates the Kumtor gold mine, taking responsibility for the entire production cycle. The company produced 15.567 tons of gold in 2023. The Kumtor mine is the largest gold mine in the country.
