BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 3. Western Union processed 49,560 incoming remittances worth 2.4 billion soms ($27.4 million) in Kyrgyzstan in the second quarter of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the country’s National Bank shows that the figure was down by 9.6 percent in terms of transactions but up by 5.9 percent in value compared to the same period of 2024.
The outbound transfer metrics within the system experienced a
contraction of 4.5 percent in transaction volume and a decline of
4.9 percent in monetary value, culminating in a total of 10,510
transactions aggregating to 1 billion soms (equivalent to $11
million).
In the second quarter of 2025, global remittance frameworks
documented a total of 2.876 million inbound transactions,
aggregating to a substantial value of 82 billion soms (equivalent
to $938 million). This represented a 73.1 percent escalation in
transactional volume and a 61.7 percent augmentation in monetary
value on a year-over-year basis.
Outgoing transfers reached 134,200 transactions worth 13.6 billion soms ($155 million), up by 10 percent in number and 34.6 percent in value compared to the same quarter of 2024.
By region, Bishkek accounted for the largest share of both incoming and outgoing remittances in April-June 2025, making up 34.9 percent of total incoming transfers and 72.3 percent of outgoing transfers.
