BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 24. The services sector, which accounts for around 60 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s economy, showed strong growth in the first eight months of 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's National Statistic Committee indicates that the market volume reached more than 1.5 trillion soms from January through August, a 10.7 percent increase from the same period last year.
The most notable expansion was seen in consumer services, which rose by 22.2 percent. Wholesale and retail trade, along with the repair of cars and motorcycles, remain the dominant segments, making up nearly 80 percent of the total services market, or about 1.2 trillion soms. Wholesale trade accounted for 50.4 percent of this volume, while retail trade represented 34.4 percent.
Hotels and restaurants recorded a 25.5 percent increase in activity, reflecting a rebound in tourism demand. Healthcare and social services also demonstrated impressive growth of over 32 percent.
Meanwhile, passenger rail transport grew by 60 percent year-on-year. This surge can be related to strong seasonal demand and the popularity of the Bishkek–Balykchy summer train, which was launched last year.
