Credit portfolio of Tajikistan's Amonatbank on rise

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 5. The credit portfolio of Amonatbank, the state savings bank of Tajikistan, grew by 21 percent in the first six months of this year, bank chairman Alijon Salimzoda announced at a press conference, Trend reports.

Salimzoda stated that the bank's credit portfolio reached 2.4 billion somoni (over $226 million) at the end of June 2024. The share of non-performing loans in the total credit portfolio stands at 10 percent.

Moreover, in the first six months of this year, Amonatbank issued loans to 31,000 clients, amounting to a total of 956 million somoni ($184.6 million), funded by internal and external reserves.

The distribution of these credit resources across various sectors of the economy was as follows:

- Consumer loans: 41.9 percent

- Agriculture: 29 percent

- Trade: 14.4 percent

- Industry: 8.9 percent

- Construction: 4.5 percent

- Services: 1 percent

- Transport: 0.3 percent

Amonatbank is the largest commercial bank in the country, accounting for nearly a quarter of the financial intermediation market in Tajikistan.
