A 320-seat, high-speed passenger ship 'Çarlak' ('Charlak'), which will be used for passenger traffic in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea was recently launched for testing at Turkmenbashi international seaport, the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of the country reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the vessel is equipped with everything needed for staying at sea for up to 10 hours. "The vessel has the structure of a catamaran, the main body and the cutter are made of aluminum, it is in accordance with the standards of shipbuilding and seafaring," the report says.
A Turkish company is taking part in the project.
As reported before, the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan had signed (at its own expense) a contract with Dearsan Gemi Inşaat San. A.Ş. Gülhan Den. Tic.Ltd.Şti. (Turkey).
'Charlak' will carry out shuttle trips along a Turkmenbashi - Kizylsuisland -Khazar route. Quays and passenger terminals are being built at the departure point and intermediate stations. At the same time, its cruising range of 400 nautical miles, or 740 kilometers, will also allow for sea cruises.
The catamaran, with the length of 37.8 meters and the width of 8.9 meters is equipped with electronic control equipment with a satellite navigation system. The ship has a top speed of 30 knots, which is more than 55 km/h. Thanks to its small draft of 1.2 meters, the ship is able to dock almost anywhere on the coast of Turkmenistan.
