Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed the development of a project for the creation of a Training Center for advanced technologies of fruit and vegetable production in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Uzbek government portal.
A delegation from the Korea Rural Development Corporation (KRC), headed by Deputy Director Lee Sang-Bong, visited Uzbekistan from April 21 to May 6, 2021.
Within the framework of negotiations, which took place in the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, agreements were reached to attract grant funds from the S.Korean government in the amount of 4.5 billion Korean won ($4 million).
It is noted that the main purpose of the visit was negotiations and development of a project to create a Training Center for advanced technologies for fruit and vegetable production in Uzbekistan and assistance in transferring advanced experience to Uzbek specialists to improve the efficiency of agricultural production.
KRC Deputy Director added that S. Korean specialists will hold consultations on agricultural policy issues, provide specialized equipment needed in agriculture, and organize training for Uzbek specialists in South Korea.
It is reported that the project will be implemented from 2021 to 2025, the grant funds will be used to build the infrastructure of the AKIS (Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation Systems) Agricultural Services Center in the Yukorichirchik district of the Tashkent region.
According to the information, the center, as well as other similar AKIS centers, which will be created and opened during 2021 and 2022 in all regions of Uzbekistan, are part of the implementation of the Agriculture Development Strategy until 2030.
Korea Rural Community Corporation is a Korean state-owned rural development corporation founded in 1908. Main areas of activity are provision of water resources and infrastructure for the agricultural sector for intensive farming, including through the introduction of new technologies for water resources management, application of the latest technologies in the field of ‘green energy’ using solar and wind energy, as well as the development of the aquaculture industry (fish farming in artificial reservoirs). KRC is actively exporting its technology - over the past decade, the company has implemented more than 87 projects in 22 two countries with a total value of $88 billion.
