BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Uzbekistan has exported to Kazakhstan some 23,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $13.7 million in January 2023, Trend reports citing the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
This figure has decreased by 23.4 percent year-on-year (January 2022 – 30,700 tons).
During the reporting period, Uzbekistan overall exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58.4 million, decreasing by 11.3 tons, compared to the figure for January 2022 (78,600 tons).
In January 2023, Uzbekistan exported to its trade partners some 8,800 tons of cabbage, 7,700 tons of grapes, 7,500 tons of dried grapes, 6,300 tons of mug beans, 3,300 tons of tomatoes, 3,200 tons of pomegranates, 2,200 tons of prunes, as well as 900 tons of peanuts.
The main importers of Uzbek fruit and vegetables, besides Kazakhstan (23,500 tons), were Russia (15,300 tons), China (7,400 tons), Kyrgyzstan (5,500 tons), Pakistan (4,800 tons), Afghanistan (2,600 tons), Türkiye (1,400 tons), Belarus (800 tons), and Iran (700 tons).
Meanwhile, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $333.5 million during the first month of this year, increasing by $69.7 million, compared to the figure for January 2022 ($263.8 million).
In January 2023, Kazakhstan imported from Uzbekistan goods and services worth $56.7 million, decreasing by 7.8 percent over January 2022 ($61.5 million). Export from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan amounted to $276.8 million – an increase of 36.8 percent, compared to the same period in 2022 - $202.3 million.
