TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 23. Uzbekistan produced a total of 15.2 million Gcal of heat energy from January through August 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume of heat energy has decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period last year (15.9 million Gcal in January–August 2023).
At the same time, the country’s volume of heat energy production increased to 1.8 million Gcal in August 2024 compared to 1.3 million Gcal in July 2024.
Concurrently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided support for a $1.5 billion project aimed at modernizing Tashkent's heating infrastructure.
The project aims to lower carbon emissions in Uzbekistan, enhance energy efficiency, decrease water usage and leakage, and improve the quality and dependability of the country's heat supply.
When the initiative is fully implemented, it is expected to reduce network heat losses by more than 40 percent, minimize breakdowns, reduce water leakage by more than 60 percent, and reduce electricity consumption by more than 15 percent in the country.
