BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. The number of flights at Imam Khomeini International Airport located in Tehran Province of Iran increased by 15 percent during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, through September 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development shows that 30,000 flights were carried out at Imam Khomeini International Airport during the six months.
Meanwhile, the largest number of flights were made to and from Türkiye during the mentioned period. Thus, 9,468 flights were operated to and from Türkiye during the mentioned period.
However, the least number of flights were made to and from Venezuela during the mentioned period. Therefore, there were six flights to and from Venezuela.
Imam Khomeini International Airport welcomed 4,674,000 passengers during the six months. This is 15 percent more than in the same period last year.
The airport received the most passengers from Türkiye and back, 1.7 million, and the least number of passengers from Venezuela and back, 90.
To note, Imam Khomeini International Airport was put into operation in 2005. With the commissioning of this airport, international flights from Tehran and vice versa were transferred from Mehrabad Airport to Imam Khomeini International Airport.
