BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. The volume of gas transported for domestic consumption in Iran during the past week (from November 23 through November 29, 2024) increased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year, the executive director of Iran's Gas Transmission Company, Peyman Khazraei told reporters, Trend reports.

He claims that the country's gas network has transported 837 million cubic meters of gas for local consumption during the reporting period.

Khazrai noted that the number of turbocompressors utilized at the company's operating points had increased by 1.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the main task of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company is to transport natural gas, ethane, liquefied gas, gas condensate, or swap products within the country. This company has ten operating zones in ten Iranian provinces. This company has more than 38,000 kilometers of pipelines, 88 gas pressure stations, and nine gas export and import terminals. It can transport more than 280 bcm of gas per year.

Iran stands out as a powerhouse in the global energy landscape, boasting an impressive portfolio of approximately 34 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, positioning it as a key player in the gas reserve arena. Currently, there are 22 gas fields actively leveraging resources in Iran.

Iran is reportedly producing 1.07 billion cubic meters of rich gas daily from various gas fields.

To note, Iran's gas production averages 1 bcm per day. Iran's gas consumption rises to about 800 million cubic meters per day in winter.
