BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. The cargo transit through ports in the west of Hormozgan province, located in the south of Iran, increased by 24 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), the Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari told reporters, Trend reports.
He claims that over the course of eight months, the western ports of the Hormozgan Province transited 373,000 tons of oil and non-oil products.
Salari reported that the eight months saw the transit of 160,620 passenger cars. The transit of passenger cars primarily went to Central Asian countries and Iraq.
The official reported that the western ports of the province loaded and unloaded 135,051 TEU containers, totaling 1.4 million tons, over the course of eight months. This is 10 percent more than the same period last year.
To note, a total of ten ports are operating in the west of Iran's Hormozgan Province. Among these, Lengeh, Charak, Siri, and Lavan ports are the most active.
