BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. To date, as many as 34 foreign airlines operate flights to Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, located in northern Iran, Saeed Chalandari, the CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport, told reporters, Trend reports.

He explained that airlines such as Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Emirates are currently flying to and from Imam Khomeini International Airport, and there are no restrictions related to international flights.

Chalandari also mentioned that any foreign airline wishing to operate flights to Iran can apply to the Civil Aviation Organization to receive a license.

Furthermore, the airport official stated that 14 local airlines are also operating flights from Imam Khomeini International Airport, with airlines providing service on 58-68 routes.

Imam Khomeini International Airport was put into operation in 2005. With the commissioning of this airport, international flights from Tehran and vice versa were transferred from Mehrabad Airport to Imam Khomeini International Airport.
