BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. Iran imported products worth $54.3 million from Kazakhstan, totaling nearly 163,000 tons in the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025).
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration indicates that the country's imports from Kazakhstan saw a decrease of 7 percent in value, while the weight of imports increased by 26.5 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024).
In the previous year’s corresponding period, Iran imported products worth over $58.3 million from Kazakhstan, totaling 128,000 tons.
The statistics further reveal that Iran mainly imports agricultural products, various types of equipment, and other goods from Kazakhstan.
Additionally, trade turnover between Iran and Kazakhstan during the 11-month period reached approximately $309 million, with a total weight of 589,000 tons. This represents a 25.6 percent increase in value and a 7 percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, the administration data also shows that Iran imported 35 million tons of products worth $63.6 billion during 11 months, meaning an increase of 5.6 percent in value but a decrease of 2.6 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
