By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Production of two passenger cars stopped in Iran in the past Iranian fiscal month of Khordad (May 22-June 21).
Mazda-3 and Lifan-620 sedan cars were not manufactured in the country in the month of Khordad, according to a report published by the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade.
One Mazda-3 and 650 Lifan-620 had been manufactured in the month of Khordad last year.
Meanwhile, 28 Voleex C30 cars were manufactured, a 95.4 percent drop year on year.
Some 262,161 cars have been produced in Iran in the first quarter of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-June 21).
The figure indicates 16.2 percent increase compared to the same months of preceding year.
The Islamic Republic's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012 due to the sanctions. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.
Western countries suspended certain sanctions against Iran as the Geneva nuclear deal came into force in January 2014. Iran was permitted to import materials for its auto-manufacturing sector as a result of the nuclear deal implementation, which has led to a sharp increase in the country's auto output.
