The dispatching director of National Iranian Gas Company said gas exports from Iran witnessed a 46 percent rise in the previous Iranian calendar year that started on March 21, 2017.
Gas exports from Iran reached over 13 billion cubic meters during the previous year, showing a 46 percent increase compared to the same period, in 2016, Mehdi Jamshidi Dana said.
Dana noted that Iran exported over 9 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2016, YJC news agency reported May 16.
The country's refineries produced close to 247 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the fiscal 2017-18, he said, adding that the output indicated a hike of 8 percent compared with the preceding fiscal year.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to the country’s refineries at the giant South Pars natural gas field, which it jointly shares with Qatar, and said, “Their gas output is under control”.
The gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.
It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
