Iran is currently designing and building subway wagons, thanks to help of the local knowledge-based companies, said the Chairman of National Space and Advanced Transportation Administration Manouchehr Manteghi, Trend reports via ISNA.
"Previously, 32 percent of technology used for creation of subway wagons account for domestic capabilities, in the future it is planned to get this figure up to 85 percent," Manteghi said.
The official added that Iran's national innovation and the National Space and Advanced Transportation Administration attracted capable knowledge-based companies to the production," he said.
"After four months of studies, a contract was signed on production of locomotives, wagons, rails and stations. The contract was signed between MAPNA, Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company and Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research," he said.
"Design of a subway platform for country's subway networks was a target of the National Space and Advanced Transportation Administration," he said.
"Other targets in this cooperation is to improve production of subway wagons in the country to at least 100 subway wagons per year," Manteghi said.
