Iran MP's are agreeing with the government bill to divide Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to boost the separate sector, said a member of Parliament Industries and Mine Commission.
"Iran's industry is predicted to improve in current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021)," Lotfullah Siahkali told Trend in an interview.
"The country's industry was not booming in last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) since the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade had no minister for six months and the industrial sector faced serious and irreplaceable damages. Delay in choosing the minister had a direct effect on people's livelihood and the ignorance in this regard would inflict serious damages to the country's economy," he noted.
Siahkali went on to say that the current minister Alireza Razm Hosseini has implemented good policies for the progress of country's industry, and he made decisions in export, import, customs sectors and has offered mine incentives to provinces and indicated his aim to support Iran's Industry, Mine and Trade.
"If knowledge-based companies are supported they could improve the industry in terms of auto production there are good automaking companies that could have competition in the auto industry but there are only two automakers that are capable of mass production which would prevent competition in the auto market, the minister has good ideas to solve the monopoly in this sector that would hopefully become operational," he added.
Siahkali stressed that the merger of the ministries led to bureaucracy instead of economic progress and delayed projects.
In 2011 the Ministry of Industries and Mines and the Ministry of Commerce merged into a single Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade. The bill proposed splitting of the ministry into three separate ministries was first rejected by MP's in 2018, however, there have been calls to consider the bill again.
