The Director General of Roads and Urban Development of West Azerbaijan Province in Iran Mohsen Hamzelouz said that out of 586 km of planned roads in the west of the country, 374 km have been opened, Trend reports via IRNA.
"During the last 4 years, 244 km of highway roads have been opened in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran,” Hamzelouz said.
He added that the 1,500-kilometer-long highway in the west of the country connects the Bazargan border to the port of Imam Khomeini.
The development of transportation infrastructure at border terminals in Iran is of the most efficient ways out of economic challenges,” he added.
Referring to thousands of kilometers of common border between West Azerbaijan Province and the neighboring countries, he said that this province has turned into the main gateway of Iran to Europe.
