BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Iran and Azerbaijan share significant opportunities across various economic sectors, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Director of the Political and International Studies Center at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, Trend reports.
Khatibzadeh emphasized the substantial potential in the energy sector, particularly in the production and exchange of electricity, which could greatly contribute to the economic growth of both countries.
He also noted that there are ample opportunities to further develop cooperation in tourism, culture, and other areas of mutual interest. These developments naturally require positive bilateral relations between the two countries, Khatibzadeh remarked.
Additionally, the total non-oil trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan in the past Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) reached around $712 million in value and 872,000 tons in weight, reflecting a 6 percent increase in value and a 9.4 percent rise in weight compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
