Consumer market
In January - February 2009 a rise of the retail goods turnover got restored amid continuing rise of the community services and was 12.0%. The amount of retail goods turnover comprised AZN 1822.3mln or 9.9% up as compared to last year.
According to data provided by the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, of the total amount, AZN 1192.0mln was made up of foodstuffs, AZN 630.3mln - non foodstuffs. The increase in sales on both goods was 9.8% and 10.6% respectively.

Prices
In January to February 2009 the growth pace of inflation was 10.3% as compared to 2008. In January - February 2008, this figure totaled 15.7%.
In February 2009, the prices for the consumer goods and tariffs reduced 0.8%. The food prices decreased 1.2% in February. The prices of non-foods decreased 0.2%. The service prices declined 0.1%.
In February 2009, the base index of the consumer prices incurring seasonal changes (fruits and vegetable) and being regulated by the Government made up 99.1% as compared to the previous month, and 112.0% to the same period of the last year.
As compared to the previous month, in February 2009 the index of industrial goods price decreased 0.3%, and 40.8% compared to the same period of the last year.
The price in oil and gas production increased 0.4% in February compared to January 2009, but decreased 56.9% compared to the same period of 2008.
The prices in refining chemical products remained declined 0.7% in the month and reduction totaled 18.9% at annualized pace. In February, the prices in metallurgy reduced by 12.6% and 7.1% at annualized pace.
The prices for electricity, gas and water remained unchanged in February compared to January 2009, but grew 1.7% at annualized pace.
