Wesley Clark pleased for Kosovo, urges respect for Serbs

( dpa ) - Retired US General Wesley Clark, who oversaw NATO operations in Kosovo in 1999 as supreme allied commander Europe of NATO, said Sunday he was "pleased for the people of Kosovo" for declaring their independence.

"I hope it will be accompanied by deep respect for the Serb minority and that they will have the opportunity to become a successful country in the heart of Europe," Clark said in comments broadcast by CNN.
