Air strike kills 4 civilians in S. Afghanistan, locals stage protest

Air strike against militants' hideouts in Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province claimed the lives of four civilians early Wednesday and triggered local demonstration, reported Xinhua.

 "Helicopters began pounding Kohat village at 01:00 a.m. local time (2030 GMT, Tuesday), leaving four persons including three children dead and two others injured," an elderly of the village, Haztat Mohammad told Xinhua.

To protest the incident, more than 100 people from the village took the bodies to Kandahar city and denounced the bloody incident.

The injured men have been taken to Mir Wais hospital in Kandahar city for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, an official with Public Relation Office of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), when approached by Xinhua, said, "We do not have any information right now."
