Five people were killed and one person was injured when a private plane crashed Wednesday shortly after taking off from Long Beach airport in suburban Los Angeles, authorities said, dpa reported.
Eyewitnesses told local television stations that the plane burst into a fireball shortly after take-off. The twin-engined Beechcraft King Air was en route to Salt Lake City. It was reportedly owned by a Los Angeles corporation. TV pictures showed the plane's charred fuselage and wings lying in the grass between two runways.
