The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021, the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.
From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.
Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
In February of this year, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.
Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the past month, added the ministry.
