Azerbaijan and Iran will sign a protocol regulating the use of radio frequency spectrum in the border areas by TV, radio and GSM communication stations, the State Radio Frequency Agency (SRFA) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend on Thursday.
According to SRFA, for this purpose the agency's experts will visit Iran and take part in a meeting on the coordination of TV, radio and GSM channels in the border areas to be held on May 20-22 in Tehran.
The meeting is held every two years and includes a joint monitoring of the frequency channels of GSM diapason.
The purpose of the meeting is eliminating cases of intersection of TV, radio and GSM communication frequencies in the border areas and ensuring the normal functioning of mobile communication there.
The agreement will bring to order the use of the radio frequency spectrum, as well as significantly reduce the likelihood of interference by radio electronic facilities in border areas.
The problem of border coordination of radio networks significantly grows if the networks of neighbouring countries use equipment with different systems and frequency bands in which they operate.
Today, three regions of the world have different frequencies and use different technologies of radio communication and broadcasting. Azerbaijan belongs to the European region which requires the use of European radio technologies by Azerbaijan, as other choices can lead to inefficient use of radio frequency spectrum in border areas.
The coordination of frequency assignments in the border areas have been agreed today between Russia and Georgia.
