N.Kirtskhalia/ President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Yavuz Mildon, visiting Tbilisi, urged safe repatriation of all refugees. "All sides must adhere to the agreements and must provide peace and safe repatriation of refugees," he said at a news conference on the results of his visit on 11 September.
Mildon said he had visited Gori and Georgian villages in the conflict area. "The villages have been razed to the ground. If ethnic cleansing in the territory is proved, all guilty persons must be punished," Mildon said.
According to the Congress President, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Bureau will meet on 19 September to discuss the situation in Georgia. "On 2 December, Georgia-related issues will be discussed at the PACE session," he said.
