Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 September / Trend / Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Fuad Aliyev and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli were registered as presidential candidates at today's meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Thus, the number of presidential contenders has totalled seven.
CEC did not register the candidature of Aliisa Agayev, who submitted 44,493 signatures, for only 32,764 of them were true. Agayev also provided false information about his property.
Presidential elections will take place in Azerbaijan on 15 October.
So far, CEC has registered the candidatures of the chairman of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev, chairman of the Umid Party Igbal Agazade, chairman of the Great Establishment Party Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of the Muasir Musavat party Hafiz Hajiyev and the chairman of the Unified Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Gudrat Hasanguliyev.
