Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 21 / Trend , A.Huseynbala /
Azerbaijani opposition party asked an air time from the Public TV.
"The Baku City Administration rejected our appeal to stage a rally in front of the National TV and Radio Broadcating Council (NTVRBC). We wanted to protest the prohibition imposed on broadcasting of foreign FM radio stations and in the Turkish language. The Administartion proposed us to protest through media," the National Liberation Party (NLP) told Trend .
The appeal says if NLP will not be given an air time, then a rally will be staged in front of the NTVRBC and Public TV. "We ask air time to make clear our position related to the amendments and changes into the Constitution," the apeal says.
The Public TV said that granting of separate air time to every political party contradicts the principles of the channel.
"If the Public TV will allocate air time to one of the parties, then it will have to allocate air time to other parties. This contradicts principles of the Public TV, and is impossible from physical point of view," Deputy Chairman on Public Relations Tahir Mammadov said.
Since Jan.1 NTVRBC imposed a prohibition on broadcasting of foreign radio stations. Under another decision of the Council, the broadcasting of movies in foreign and Turkish languages were also prohibited.
