An Azerbaijani delegation headed by ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary Ali Ahmedov is on visit to Korea.
"The Azerbaijani delegation, which visited Korea upon the invitation of the ruling Hannara Party, met with Korean Prime Minister Chung Un-Chan," the NAP told Trend today.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the development of relations between the countries and possibilities of cooperation in energy, natural resources, information technology, construction and transport.
"Ahmedov noted the high interest of foreign, including Korean, business circles, in favorable investment opportunities in Azerbaijan," the party reported.
Un-Chan appreciated the economic growth in Azerbaijan in the global financial crisis.
"Ahmedov said the rise in the economic sector in Azerbaijan has been achieved through the perseverance of the authorities and the Azerbaijani people. Un-Chan also asked about the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ahmedov gave extensive information about the conflict and ongoing negotiations for its resolution. He said the delay in addressing an impediment to social and economic development not only of the parties involved in the conflict, but also the whole region, s well as prevention to the implementation of regional projects," the NAP reported.
The Azerbaijani delegation also held meetings with the leadership of the Hannara Party, the chairman of the Korean National Assembly, and the chief adviser to the Korean president on political matters. A memorandum will be signed between the ruling parties.
The NAP was established by Nakhchivan Parliamentary Speaker Heydar Aliyev in 1992. Current President Ilham Aliyev is the chairman of the party, which has ruled for 17 years.
