ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 26. From 2022 to 2024, 405 fines totaling 14.3 billion tenge (approximately $28.6 million) were imposed for violations of environmental legislation related to waste management in Kazakhstan, said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev at a government meeting, Trend reports.
“Among the most significant cases is a fine of 13.7 billion tenge (approximately $27.4 million) imposed on Caspian Oil JSC for accumulating waste without the necessary environmental permit. AltyntauKokshetau JSC and the Financial and Investment Corporation JSC were also held accountable for exceeding waste accumulation limits, amounting to 145 million tenge (approximately $290,000) and 108.7 million tenge (approximately $217,400), respectively,” Nysanbayev underscored.
He also indicated that pursuant to extant regulatory frameworks,
each enterprise is mandated to formulate a Waste Management Program
that incorporates the utilization of best available techniques to
optimize waste volume reduction.
Today, a convening of governmental stakeholders transpired in
Kazakhstan, presided over by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, with
the focal agenda centering on the optimization of municipal and
industrial waste management protocols.
