BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Azerbaijan exported 5.8 million kWh of electricity to Iran from January through February 2025.
Calculations based on data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that the revenue generated from the electricity exports amounted to $164,000.
The volume of electricity exports to Iran during this period increased by 651,000 kWh, or approximately 13.7 percent, compared to the same period last year. In terms of value, the exports grew by $18,000, or around 12.3 percent.
In the interim, Azerbaijan facilitated the exportation of 5.1 million kilowatt-hours of electrical energy to Iran, generating a revenue stream of $146,000 during the corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year.
To note, Azerbaijan exported a total of 296.2 million kWh of electricity abroad from January through February 2025, generating a value of $16.4 million. This represents a decrease of 316.5 million kWh (2.1 times) in volume and $18.5 million (2.1 times) in value compared to the same period last year. In the first two months of 2024, the volume of electricity exports from Azerbaijan was 612.7 million kWh, valued at $34.9 million.
Furthermore, during the specified reporting interval, there was a transnational flow of electrical energy from Azerbaijan to the markets of Russia, Georgia, and Iran.
