BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21. Initial drilling operations at Azerbaijan's West Chirag platform have wrapped up, Trend reports via British Petroleum (bp).
"Efforts to assess, develop, and produce free natural gas from the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG) field are progressing.
As part of this work, we have completed the drilling of the initial well from the existing West Chirag platform.
Production from the well is expected to begin by the end of 2025, following the completion of well finishing operations and subsea tie-in work,” the company noted.
The West Chirag platform is one of several oil production facilities situated in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Operated by British Petroleum (bp), it forms part of the larger Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG) field complex and is located in the western section of the Chirag field. Commissioned for full production in early 2014, the platform was designed to tap into additional oil reserves and enhance the overall output capacity of the ACG project.
