ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 22. One hundred shiny,
nimble locomotives have rolled into Kazakhstan’s Astana from China,
as Trend reports through the grapevine of Kazakhstan Railways,
Trend reports.
The locomotives were delivered under a framework agreement between
Kazakhstan Railways and the China Railway Rolling Stock
Corporation. The agreement was signed during the visit of
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China in October
2023.
A formal event for the acquisition of the locomotives was orchestrated at the Astana operational locomotive depot.
"The honor of cutting the ribbon was given to the respected locomotive drivers Nurbek Sembiev and Serkebay Maikenov, who have worked for many years at the depot and are retiring this year, receiving a special industry allowance paid by the employer until they reach retirement age," Kazakhstan Railways reported.
Per the feedback from the locomotive operators, the newly engineered locomotives provide an elevated standard of ergonomic comfort. The cabin is outfitted with a climate control system, a refrigeration unit, and a culinary heating apparatus, thereby enhancing the operational environment considerably.
