The global financial crisis did not impact on the turnover of plastic cards in Azerbaijani banks, AzeriCard Processing Centre Client Service Department Chief Jahangir Mammadov said.
"No reduction in the turnover of plastic cards has been observed on the banking market in Azerbaijan," Mammadov added.
The turnover of plastic cards meets Azerbaijani banks' expectations and projection.
Over the last three years the number of plastic cards were increased seven times and reached 3.3 million, and the number of ATMs increased three times - 1,400 and POS-terminals ten times to 6,000.
The total turnover of cards hit 4 billion manat.
900,000 cards were issued in 2008, out of which 450,000 were pension, 273,000 -VISA and 217,000 -MasterCard.
On Feb. 13 the official exchange rate is 0.8062 manat to $1.
