Iran has allocated $2 million to develop the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint on the border with Azerbaijan, the Iranian Fars news agency quoted Mansour Haqiqatpour, the governor of Iran's Ardabil province, as saying.
Haqiqatpour said at present a tender was announced to develop the customs point reconstruction work will begin in the coming days.
"As the Ardabil province and the Bilasuvar city are in the border region, they have geopolitical significance. Therefore the Bilasuvar-Ardabil highway needs overhaul," Haqiqatpour said.
