Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov signed the order to develop a program of privatization of housing which is on the balance of housing fund, as well as create a real estate exchange.

National TV channel Altyn Asyr said that the corresponding order was given to Deputy Prime Minister Tuvakmammad Japarov. "I instruct to take all necessary actions to prepare and submit relevant proposals", the Turkmen President said.

The privatization of housing and the creation of exchanges will be another important step towards the successful implementation of strategy undertaken in our country for improving housing conditions.

As it is known, free privatization of municipal housing is held in several CIS states, including Russia.

In Turkmenistan, the privatization of housing was ceased by the former President Saparmurat Niyazov, who made an exception for Russian migrants. In this regard, a special document was adopted and signed in May 1995 by Niyazov and his Russian counterpart Boris Yeltsin.

Berdimuhammedov first spoke about possible resumption of the privatization of housing last year.
