State Statistics Committee: Prices on meat and dairy products artificially increase in Azerbaijan

The consistent level of inflation is expected to continue in Azerbaijan until the end of 2011, the head of the State Statistics Committee Arif Valiyev said.

He said that deflation has been observed in the country since April. This process will continue during the summer season. The prices are expected to decline mainly on food, in particular for vegetables, fruits, meat and dairy products.

However, he has not ruled out that consumer prices will increase after the seasonal decrease in September-October.

He said that prices have artificially increased on the market today.

In particular, the prices increased on domestic meat and dairy products.

In April, consumer prices and tariffs for services in Azerbaijan decreased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.

Food prices were reduced by 0.7 percent, monthly; tariffs for paid services rendered to the population and prices for industrial goods increased by 0.1 percent.
