Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug. 9
By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:
Tashkent region of Uzbekistan is interested in joint production of furniture with the Minsk region of Belarus, Uzbek media reported referring to Head of the Tashkent regional administration Gulomjon Ibragimov.
The statement was made during the visit of a delegation of the Tashkent region, headed by Ibragimov, to Minsk and a meeting with Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Isachenko.
During the meeting, Ibragimov noted that the Tashkent region accounts for about 20 percent of Uzbekistan's GDP. The region has developed industry, agriculture and tourism.
He underlined that the delegation of the region arrived in Belarus to establish new ties.
“We are interested in joint production of furniture. Your furniture has traditionally been popular in Uzbekistan,” the head of the Tashkent region said.
Ibragimov added that since early 2018, trade turnover between the Minsk region and Uzbekistan amounted to $12.5 million.
It was announced in late July that Uzbekistan and Belarus may establish joint production of medical products.
