Georgia is the leader of the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) Policy Index of the Eastern Partnership countries, says the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Trend reports with reference to bizzone.info.
According to the rating prepared on the basis of the study under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Georgia received the best score on 9 and 13 indicators, and its rating score improved on 11 indicators.
This information was announced at a working meeting arranged by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which was held in Paris.
The government delegations from the Eastern Partnership countries participated in the meeting. The Georgian delegation was represented by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Ekaterina Mikabadze and Mikheil Khidureli, Director of the 'Produce in Georgia' Agency.
As the ministry noted, Georgia is the leader in nine of the following indicators: regulatory environment, enterprise environment, support services for small and medium enterprises and start-ups, government procurement, access to finance, standards and technical regulations, entrepreneurial skills, innovations, internationalization of small and medium businesses.
“Support for small businesses is our priority, and we are very pleased that this has been confirmed once again at the international level,” said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
