Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated the first phase of the Minab Plain Irrigation Network project, worth more than $17 million, Trend reports via IRNA.
The first phase of the Minab Plain Irrigation Network project was put into operation on Thursday in Minab city (Hormozgan Province) with the presence of Hormozgan Governor Fereydoun Hemmati and Deputy Minister of agricultural Jihad Ali Morad Akbari, through a video conference with the President Rouhani.
The project has created direct employment for 750 people in a land of 3,750 hectares.
By exploiting this project, a big step will be taken towards the optimal use of water resources and agricultural development in the cities of Tirour, Chah Ismail, Chah Shirin, Ziarat Mola and Gorband Minab.
The first phase of the Minab Plain Irrigation Network project as one of the largest projects in the country has been implemented with the aim of optimal utilization of water resources and agricultural development in lands under cultivation of eggplant, onion, pepper and watermelon, wheat, canola and sunflower.
The main objectives of the project include providing food security, increasing water use efficiency by implementing drip pressure irrigation, rehabilitating agricultural lands in Minab, improving irrigation efficiency, increasing farmers 'empowerment, increasing farmers' incomes and reducing labor costs.
