Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will launch 39 projects, overall worth some $1.3 billion, in Iran's free and special economic zones, via video conference, Trend reports via IRNA.
The launch would help create jobs for over 5,000 people.
The projects will be launched in the country's north east (Aras Free Zone Organization), Kish and Qeshm free zones in the south, as well as Salafchegan Special Economic Zone.
Iran's government has started working on mega projects in its free zones in Sept. 2019, as 58 projects were launched in the first phase, thanks to investments of $1.1 billion and €438 million. The launch of the projects created 4,412 sustainable jobs.
The second phase was launched in January 2021 - 60 projects, backed by $2.2 billion worth of investments, were launched, creating more than 3,200 jobs.
Iran's domestic investments in its free and special economic zones in the past 8 years stood at $45 billion, while the foreign investments reached $5.5 billion in the same period.
A total of 512,000 people currently work directly in private sectors in these zones.
