The German company RWE AG believes Turkmenistan is a huge potential partner given the country's immense energy resources, Chairman of the Board Jurgen Grossman said during a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, the national TV channel Turkmenistan-4 reported on Jan. 8.

In an interview, Grossman stressed the significance of the meeting focusing on cooperation in the energy and construction materials sectors.

RWE AG was founded in 1898. Today, the company is a major international player in gas sales and power production, as well as a top-5 European power-supply company. RWE AG is also a member of the consortium of the Nabucco gas pipeline project, which will pump natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe via the Caspian Sea, Caucasus and Turkey.

RWE AG representatives stressed the importance of Berdimuhammedov's initiative to ensure the pipeline's security as outlined in the UN Special Resolution on the "Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy Resources and Its Role in Providing Stable Development and International Cooperation."

Berdimuhammedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to cooperate with German businesses and expressed his confidence that they will partake in upcoming projects in the country.

RWE AG Business Manager and Commercial Director Stefan Judisch and Acting Advisor of the Siemens AG Central Board Rudi Lamprecht also attended the meeting.
