In January 2009, the oil and gas producing units of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), operating in the offshore and onshore fields, produced approximately 4.6 million barrels of oil (nearly 619,200 tons) as compared to 4.7 million barrels (635,000 tons) in the same period in 2008, SOCAR said.
Nearly 934,500 barrels fell on share of projects jointly with the foreign companies, of which more than 161,000 barrels fell on share of the operating companies, 665,200 barrels - Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli project, 108,000 barrels - gas condensate from Shah Deniz field.
In January 2009 oil and gas producing units of SOCAR produced nearly 701,000 cubic meters gas as compared to nearly 638,000 cubic meters in the same period of 2008. The joint ventures and operating companies, which generate gas onshore, transmitted SOCAR 6,280 cubic meters gas in January 2009.
In January 2009 Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) produced more than 301,000 cubic meters associated gas for SOCAR on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields as compared to 138,430 cubic meters during the same period of the last year.
