At present, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) exports about 2.3 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia, a source in SOCAR said.
He said that 600,000 cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas of the total volume supplied to Georgia account for SOCAR's export operations, while the remaining 1.7 million cubic meters is supplied within transit of the Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz field through Georgia.
"Now SOCAR exports 600,000 cubic meters of gas to Georgia per day," the source said.
In 2010, SOCAR exported 339.16 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia.
SOCAR supplies its own gas to Georgia via a pipeline linking the two countries in the Gazakh district of Azerbaijan as part of its activity on the Georgian market. Power flow of gas through this pipeline is 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
SOCAR and the Georgian government signed an agreement to transfer 30 gas distribution networks covering different regions in Georgia in late December 2008.
As the source said, 6.6 million cubic meters of gas is supplied to Turkey per day under a contract to purchase the Azerbaijani gas within the first phase of the development of Shah Deniz gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed on June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
At present, gas is transported to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus gas pipeline.
