A draft document on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of the South Caucasus gas pipeline expansion project in Azerbaijan has been prepared, BP's statement (operator of the South Caucasus Pipeline), published in the official press on Saturday, said.
The company announced that the project is ready and will be submitted to the public to gather opinions and proposals.
According to the document, the potential impact of the project on the environment and social sphere and recommended mitigation measures are being considered.
The copies of the document will be available in Baku and regions from January 24.
The conclusions and proposals are accepted by late March.
The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasian gas pipeline) is over 700 km. Gas produced from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via the pipeline. The gas is supplied to Georgia and Turkey. Azerbaijan also appears as the buyer of gas.
